Repair Warranty

Craftsmanship Warranty

I stand behind every piece I make. If your jewelry has a defect in craftsmanship - a structural failure, a failed solder joint, a setting that fails prematurely - I'll repair or replace it at no charge. That's a lifetime commitment, and it transfers with the piece if it's passed down or gifted.

What's Covered

Defects in craftsmanship, including cracked castings, structural failures, solder joints, and settings that fail prematurely under normal wear. If the piece was made by me and something failed that shouldn't have, it's covered.

Complimentary polishing and refinishing once per year for custom commission pieces and gold pieces. Just reach out to schedule.

Complimentary setting checks and prong tightening on any Skölland piece, anytime. Just cover return shipping.

What's Not Covered

Damage from accidents, impact, or drops. Normal wear-and-tear over time, including scratches, patina, and gradual thinning of metal. Accelerated wear from activities or environments that are hard on jewelry - including but not limited to manual labor, gym use, rock climbing, gardening, and repeated contact with hard surfaces. Jewelry is durable, but metal wears down faster under heavy or irresponsible use. How a piece is worn and cared for directly affects its lifespan, and premature wear from lifestyle use is not a craftsmanship defect.

Modifications or attempted repairs by anyone other than me. Chemical exposure, including chlorine, bleach, cleaning products, perfumes, and lotions. Lost jewelry. Skin discoloration - this is a reaction between metal and your individual body chemistry, not a defect. More on this in my care guide.

Gemstone chipping or cracking from impact is not a craftsmanship defect. Natural stones vary in hardness and can be damaged by sudden force or extreme temperature changes.

Plating & Patina Finishes

Some pieces feature black rhodium plating, or other surface finishes. Plating is a surface treatment - it will gradually wear through over time depending on how the piece is worn. This is normal and expected, and is not covered under warranty. How quickly plating wears is directly related to frequency of wear, skin chemistry, and exposure to friction and chemicals.

If plating chips, flakes, or separates from the base metal within 6 months of delivery, that is a finishing defect and I will replate the piece at no charge. After 6 months, replating is available as a paid service. Replating should not be done more than once per year to maintain the integrity of the base metal and surface detail.

Some silver pieces feature an intentional patina - an oxidized or darkened finish applied to enhance depth and detail. Patina is not permanent. It will naturally evolve with wear: skin oils may brighten high points, while recessed areas stay dark. This is part of how the piece lives and changes with you. Patina finishes are not covered under warranty, but refinishing is available. Reach out for pricing.

Stone Settings & Maintenance

Stone settings are designed to hold securely, but they are not permanent fixtures. Prongs and bezels gradually wear down through normal contact - bumping against surfaces, daily wear, even the natural movement of your hands. This is true of all fine jewelry, not just mine.

I recommend having your settings checked every 6–12 months, depending on how often you wear the piece. This is standard practice with any fine jewelry - the same way you'd service a watch periodically. Setting checks and prong tightening on Skölland pieces are always complimentary. Just cover return shipping and I'll take care of the rest.

A setting that loosens gradually over months of wear is normal maintenance. A setting that fails prematurely is a craftsmanship issue and is fully covered under warranty.

Resizing

Complimentary resizing is available within 60 days of delivery on eligible rings (unless marked "not resizable" in the original listing). After 60 days, resizing is available for a fee - reach out for a quote. All resizing should be done through me. Resizing or modification by a third-party jeweler voids the warranty on the affected piece.

One-of-a-Kind Pieces

Because the mold is destroyed after casting, OOAK pieces cannot be replaced with an identical piece. Craftsmanship defects on one-of-a-kind work will be repaired.

Chains

Chains will be repaired or replaced within one year of purchase, depending on the chain type. Some chain styles are repairable; others will be replaced outright.

Non-Warranty Repairs

If your piece needs repair for something not covered under warranty - an accident, resizing outside the complimentary window, wear damage, replating, or a patina refresh - I'm happy to help. I'll provide a quote before starting any work so there are no surprises.

Sending a Piece In

Contact me before shipping any piece for repair or maintenance: info@skollandjewelry.com or 920-267-7952. I'll provide shipping instructions and let you know what to expect.

Please ship all jewelry in a proper parcel - a box with padding, not a paper envelope. Rings and small pieces can slip through envelope seams or be damaged by sorting equipment. I've had clients lose pieces this way, and once it's gone, it's gone.

Return shipping is the customer's responsibility. I insure every outbound shipment, but I'm not responsible for damage or loss during return shipping - please use a tracked, insured service and include your order number or the event where you purchased the piece. International customers are responsible for any customs fees or duties on return shipments.

Most repairs are completed within 3–6 weeks. I'll contact you with an update once I've assessed the piece.
