From our Door County based Wisconsin studio, we create unrepeatable treasures primarily through lost wax casting-an ancient technique. Each piece takes days to weeks of hands-on work. Each mold gets destroyed. Your treasure remains original, exclusively yours.
We believe jewelry should be as unrepeatable as the wearer. In a world of algorithms,minimalism, and mass production, we prefer the ancient path: hand carving, molds that die for their single creation, and the kind of obsessive craftsmanship that makes others think we're slightly unhinged.

About The Artist-Claire Steckel
Claire Steckel creates jewelry for people who need their adornments to mean something-for those who need their jewels to be a triad of art, armor, adornment.
A decade ago, Claire was stringing beads in her first apartment, frustrated that she couldn't find the pieces she imagined. So she started by teaching herself metalsmithing, then sought out learning from master goldsmiths to refine her techniques. Realizing that most jewelers were playing it safe, making the same things, reselling from the same wholesalers, charging too little or too much, and calling it a day.
That wasn't going to work.
Originally trained in culinary arts with an emphasis in baking (yes, really), Claire brings the same precision to metalwork that baking demands-except jewelry doesn't have a shelf life and nobody complains if your dinner rolls take six weeks to materialize. Her work melds architectural elements with historical artifacts, fantasy aesthetics with heirloom quality, creating pieces that are unmistakably Skölland.
The Minnesota Renaissance Festival was where everything clicked. Finally, a place where wearing a dragon scale ring to breakfast made sense. Where customers became friends. Where creating something boldly different was the entirely the point.
After seven years of professional smithing and one feature by The Argentium Guild, Claire still gets genuinely excited about melting metal with fire. It's basically sanctioned pyromania with better insurance.
When not contemplating eating the forbidden pancake batter (casting plaster), you'll find her spending way too much time playing video games, singing whatever comes to mind, blasting metal while driving, or enthusiastically rejoicing when a rabbit shows up in her yard.

Skölland draws from the intersection of brutalist themes,meets architecture, meets ethereal fantasy-where gothic architecture might contain books instead of stained glass, and dragon scales could be forged from stars.
